More good news for the property market once normality returns, with a survey showing that 75% of home movers in the early stages of planning a move still want to carry on as soon as possible with a further 18% still hoping to move later this year.
Just 7% had scrapped their plans because they were unwilling or unable to move according to the survey by price comparison website Reallymoving.
They found that most buyers and sellers are sensibly using this time to prepare their property for sale and look at the areas they want to move to.
"People will have a good reason for needing to move. For instance, to a larger property with a growing family, to be nearer schools, a first-time buyer getting onto the housing ladder, downsizing as people retire or the family moves away, or countless other reasons. The factors behind the move probably won't have changed, it is just the timing under the current circumstances" said Beresfords CEO, Paul Beresford.
"As a result, we are finding more and more people signing up to property alerts on our website so they instantly see new properties coming onto the market."
"With virtual viewings and tours available, we are finding many people are taking advantage of agreeing a purchase, subject of course, to the final viewing when restrictions are lifted and therefore, putting themselves in a pole position as we hopefully all start to move towards normality."
Of those that have already agreed a deal, Reallymoving found that the vast majority had every intention of still moving and were using lockdown to get as far ahead as possible with solicitors and lenders who are still very much 'open for business', so that they can move at the first available opportunity.
