Managed by Essex Wildlife Trust, the Ingrebourne Valley Visitor Centre is a fantastic gateway to exploring the natural beauty of Hornchurch. Comprised of 261 hectares, the site overlooks the River Ingrebourne Valley marshland, reed beds, grassland, and ancient woodland, providing information about the local wildlife and its natural habitats.

As you walk around its grounds, try to spot the 16 species of nationally scarce beetles, 61 species of birds, dragonflies, crickets, and other residents of the area. And, once you start getting a bit peckish, there are plenty of amenities available, including a café, picnic area, shop, and children’s play area.

Listed as a Grade II building, Langtons House is a local must-visit. This beautiful 18th Century manor house, with its picturesque gardens and a bath house, is commonly used as a venue for weddings and other special celebrations. However, visitors can simply come to appreciate its historical architecture and the meticulously landscaped greenery. The Langtons House gardens are also known for hosting popular events, such as the Langtons Summer Concert, attracting around 2,000 attendees every year.

Harrow Lodge Park is the largest urban park in the borough, covering 130 acres of greenery. Established in 1936, the park is filled with activities, suitable for both adults and children. Amongst its many facilities, the Harrow Lodge Park houses 2 children play areas, 2 multi-use games areas, tennis courts, a parkour area, and a kiosk for food and drinks.
