From a 10 hour non-stop bikeathon to a British Bake Off inspired cake sale, Beresfords employees pulled out all the stops this Red Nose Day to help raise money for Comic Relief.
Beresfords Head Office staff donned their lycra and mopped their brows as they took part in a strenuous 10 hour bikeathon. Taking inspiration from the 118 guys, our teams dressed in red and white stripped T shirts, black curly wigs and moustaches. Adopting a team relay approach, each member of staff jumped on the exercise bike for 15 - 30 minutes at a time to complete the 10 hour stretch.
Other Comic Relief fun which our teams took part in included bake sales, fancy dress, making their faces funny for money and mini competitions including guess the number of sweets in a jar and a sponsored silence. An impressive total in excess of £250 was raised on the day.
Since its launch in 1988, people across the country get together every two years to do something funny for money at home, school and work. From 2009-2013 the charity have made grants totalling more than £300 million to help people living tough lives.
Nicki Treffers, Beresfords Marketing Manager, commented: “Red Nose Day has become something of a British Institution and we are delighted to have been able to raise money for people living in the UK and around the world. I’m really impressed with how imaginative our teams have been, the dedication from those that did the bikeathon certainly stood out, we were also lucky enough to have two of our champion Beresfords bakers Jo Buck and Harriet Walford create some tasty treats !”
Paul Beresford, Chairman/Managing Director, praised the staff: “We enjoy getting involved in both national and local charitable events which is why we support Comic Relief. The bikeathon was an idea thought up by one of our offices and we decided to adopt this across a number of the branches as it was such a commendable idea. As a means to support this initiative Beresfords donated £200 as everyone had completed the given task.
