Surrounded by beautiful countryside, Ingatestone and some of the surrounding villages, such as Fryerning and Stock, are home to some of the most exclusive properties in the region. While property prices reflect its desirable status, residents can benefit from a great range of amenities as well as historic charm.
Recently recognised as one of the “Best places to live in the East”, Ingatestone offers an exceptional quality of life to professionals and families alike. With a small Ingatestone population of just over 5000 residents, the village offers a safe and peaceful community, while maintaining a close proximity to London’s hustle and bustle.
Although relatively small, Ingatestone does not have a shortage of recreational facilities!
The term exclusive is certainly true of Ingatestone Hall - one of the major tourist attractions in the summer months. This remarkable 16th-century Tudor manor house is one of the finest in the country, featuring extensive gardens as well as exhibitions of antiques and paintings. Nearby Mountnessing village is also not lacking character and includes a restored windmill dating back to the time of George III.
Sports enthusiasts can take advantage of Ingatestone & Fryerning Tennis Club and the Ingatestone & Fryerning Cricket Club, while nature lovers are spoilt for choice, with ample green spaces around the village, including the Queen's Park Country Park and the Hutton Country Park.
Families will enjoy the annual Summer Show hosted by Ingatestone, which includes a funfair, games and races, dog show, alpacas, and, of course, mouth-watering foods stalls. The village also hosts a free fireworks display at Fairfield Recreation Ground every New Year’s Eve.
Along the Ingatestone high street, you will find a diverse range of shops and eateries. From local convenience stores like the Co-operative Food and supermarkets such as Budgens to boutique clothing stores, gift shops, and hardware shops - the village single-handedly covers the everyday shopping needs of its residents.

The railway station, though village in appearance, actually stands on the main east coast line and will get you into London Liverpool Street in less than 30 minutes. There are also several First Essex bus routes serving Ingatestone, providing links to nearby towns such as Brentwood and Chelmsford.
And, for those where road is the preferred method of transport, the A12 skirts the village and is only about 7 miles from Junction 28 of the M25, offering straightforward road access to London, Chelmsford, and beyond.
A huge draw for the area is the prestigious Anglo European Secondary School, which was the first school in Britain to become a language college.
As for other schools, options include: Ingatestone Infant School, Ingatestone Primary School, Margaretting Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School, Brightside Primary School, and Mountnessing Church of England Primary School.
