Hornchurch is like a village within London, loved by residents for its community feel, comparative quietness and convenient transport links. The area is especially popular with families and there are plenty of welcoming, residential areas, great schools, and facilities to keep everyone entertained.
If you’re unfamiliar with the area, it can be tricky to narrow down your property hunt. Where to live in Hornchurch is down to personal preference, but we’ve put together our favourite places and why they’ve made the list.
There is a fantastic mix of property on and near Ardleigh Green Road, offering something for different tastes and budgets. However, the main appeal of this road in particular is its proximity to green spaces such as Haynes Park and nearby Emerson Park Train Station, making it a great choice for commuters. It’s also in easy reach of the high street, with all the local amenities you could need.
The eastern end of the road starts at Harrow Lodge Park: 130 acres of green space with play areas, sports facilities, a lake, café and annual events. Quiet and residential but still in easy reach of amenities, The Avenue deserves a place on your shortlist when property hunting.
This area is close to the high street, Emerson Park station and other transport links while offering a great range of property sizes and styles.
The Emerson Park area is home to some beautiful, larger properties, some of which are full of character and/or historic details. The plots here tend to be larger than average and you are still in easy reach of great transport links, schools and all the other highlights of Hornchurch.
When considering where to live in Hornchurch, take a closer look at any available properties on Harrow Drive. The southern end of the street starts near beautiful Harrow Lodge Park with all its fantastic facilities, offering opportunities for the whole household to get outside and enjoy sport, play, or simply meander around the lake. The quiet, residential road stretches north with spacious properties to choose from.
The Mall is a somewhat hidden gem in Hornchurch. It is essentially two quiet cul-de-sacs, home to beautiful properties while in easy reach of the green spaces and amenities for which this part of London is famed.
This residential area gets its name from the racecourse it was built upon after WWII. Its central location and proximity to Hornchurch Station make it popular with commuters and it’s a great place to include in your property hunt.
Last but by no means least on our list in Wingletye Lane and the nearby streets. This long road has fields to the east and is a great place for families as there are plenty of good schools nearby. While transport links are good, this area is comparatively far away from the train stations which is worth considering if you’re planning daily trips to central London.
We’re biased, but we think Hornchurch is a fantastic place to live. Village charm a stone’s throw from central London; great schools; green spaces and all the amenities you could need… what’s not to love?
