If you’re looking for things to do in Chelmsford for adults, Chelmsford City Racecourse offers something a little bit different. Hylands Estate is a Grade II listed, 574 acre public park. Hylands House itself is hireable and open on select days, while the park offers walks, a café, second hand bookshop, artist studios, formal gardens, woodlands, playground and variety of events. 

One of our top Chelmsford tourist attractions (and one that locals are also fond of) is RHS Garden Hyde Hall. Just south-east of the city, this beautiful place welcomes visitors to explore its different and distinct gardens, walks, lake, cafes and play area. A wonderful day out for all the family.

There are a few golf clubs around, but Channels edges it as our favourite. Just north of the city, this club is welcoming while offering a great nine-hole pay and play course, membership course, lessons, weddings and other events.

Beautiful and ancient, these woodlands are ideal for dog walks and simply getting out in nature.

We love the local food-scene here in Chelmsford and have some great independent eateries we like to frequent. Moto Pizza is a fabulous success story with three restaurants now in the area, so make sure you grab a slice if you’re feeling hungry.
