Green door with gold details - Dedham - Beresfords Estate agents - Essex

60 seconds with Chris Dutton

By the Beresfords Marketing Team - 21st February 2014

Chris Dutton, lettings manager at the newly refurbished Chelmsford branch has been a Chelmsfordian for four years and tells us about his favourite spots! Let’s dig a little deeper in our 60secs catch up.

What are you seeing in the lettings market at the moment?

The lettings market is a hive of activity at the moment and our priority is to always match the right tenants to the right property. We have lots of families coming to us both locally and from London, looking for long term rental contract on three or four bedroom homes close to the great schools in the city.

We also have young professionals and commuters looking to rent one and two bedroom apartments in the city centre and close to the station. They are looking for an urban lifestyle with an eclectic range of restaurants, cafes and bars at their doorstep.

What else does Chelmsford offer?

I think we have a truly diverse range of shopping facilities which rival any of the out-of-town malls in and around Essex. Living in Chelmsford, you are spoilt for choice, with every high street chain you could wish for, as well as independent boutiques catering for all tastes. And it’s about to get better with the opening of a flagship John Lewis store.

Tell us the latest property hotspot in Chelmsford

My inside tip would be Chester Place. It is increasingly popular with a diverse range of people and properties are regularly being snapped up within 48 hours. The main draw for people is its location, being within walking distance of the Angela Ruskin University, the  King Edward VI Grammar School and Chelmsford County High School for Girls, while  also being close to the train station.

What is your favourite eating spot in the city?

My favourite haunt has to be Miller and Carter Steakhouse, which is on the way to Chelmer Village. The steaks are just mouth-watering and the chefs make sure they cook it just the way you want it. They also have a great selection of wines which are paired with the different cuts of meat, which makes every visit a delight!

What would be your ideal rental property in Chelmsford?

Now that’s a tough question to answer! I see so many I like, but at the moment my favourite is Victoria Court. It’s a modern two bedroom apartment with a balcony in the heart of the city, which has access to a gym as well as restaurants, shops and bars, but is just walking distance to the station. It is the ideal city-centre pad.
