Hidden Gems – Writtle

16th August 2019

Situated just to the west of Chelmsford, lies the village of Writtle. Often described as "one of the loveliest villages in England" it is not difficult to see why.

The Green is simply picturesque, complete with duck pond and a variety of period properties: reminiscent of a scene from a book.

Wander just a few minutes over the way and you will find a great pub serving home cooked food, as well as an independently owned Italian and Indian restaurant.

A five minute drive (or bus ride- a regular bus service runs directly from Writtle) and you will find yourself in the vibrant city of Chelmsford, a fantastic shopping destination with an array of eateries and leisure activities.

The village has all of the are amenities that you could need: doctor's surgery, dentist, pharmacy, small supermarket, butcher, hair salon and a post office to name but a few. Writtle is also home to the well renowned Agricultural College, one of the oldest and largest specialist colleges supporting careers focused on Business and the "Green Industries".

5 Things we love about Writtle

Eating out: There is something for every appetite in Writtle. Whether you like pub food, Indian, Italian or prefer something such as a traditional afternoon tea. You will not be disappointed.

Getting outside: With bike paths and bridal ways linking directly to the City of Chelmsford, there is no excuse not to get out and about and enjoy the great outdoors.

Local events: As you would expect there are often events happening within the village including fetes, circuses, fairs and open gardens to name but a few.

Community: The community is very strong in Writtle, with an online resident's forum for support/advice and tips as well as numerous events at the church and village hall.
